Internet Connects Guests and Managers to Points Redemption System
Mexico City, Mexico - July 27, 2004 - Verifone, Inc., the world’s leading provider of payment solutions, today announced that Camino Real Hotels & Resorts has implemented a new guest loyalty program based on Verifone’s Vertical Application Services (VAS) and IP-enabled Omni 3750 payment terminals. The hotel chain, one of Mexico’s leading hotel brands, is using the state-of-the-art loyalty system in 19 hotels to allow guests to earn and redeem awards, while also providing managers with the ability to administer the program over the Internet.
Deploying more than 100 terminals in its hotels throughout Mexico, Camino Real Hotels has enrolled thousands of guests in its Círculo Real loyalty program, where they earn points for their purchases at a number of shops throughout the Hotel. These points can later be redeemed for prizes including airline tickets, hotel stays, a variety of department store gift cards, and other benefits. Vertical Application Services by Verifone utilize state-of-the-art IP-enabled Verifone terminals with a secure Internet connection to deliver powerful revenue generating applications to the hotels. Each connects to a central database over the Internet, allowing access to online administration facilities where managers can consult reports and implement program details such as which promotions should go live and the number of points required to redeem certain prizes.
“As one of Mexico’s most prestigious hotel and resort brands, Camino Real Hotels and Resorts is constantly striving to improve our guests’ overall experience,” said Lorena Ruvalcaba, director of promotions. “Working with Verifone we are able to provide a state-of-the-art loyalty program that will reward our guests for their continued patronage.” Camino Real Hotels has linked its loyalty program with other travel and hospitality related loyalty programs, including AeroMexico’s Club Premier, Mexicana Airlines’ Frecuenta and American Express Membership rewards.
The Omni 3750 terminal features an array of interchangeable communications modules supporting 2400bps, 14.4Kbps, Ethernet or ISDN technologies. Verifone also offers CDMA, GPRS and Wi-Fi wireless technologies to the list of upgrade options available for the Omni 3750. The Omni 3750 features EMV 4.0 smart card certification, the toughest standards for EMV smartcards, and is based on a powerful 32-bit processor to meet the security and networking demands of Internet Protocol (IP) communications, Triple DES (3DES) PIN security and up to 4MB of memory for value-added applications.
“The success at Camino Real Hotel and Resorts demonstrates how innovative companies are using best-of-breed payment technologies to provide exciting new services to their customers,” said Bill Nichols, vice president of international marketing for Verifone. “This solution demonstrates the capabilities of the IP-enabled Omni 3750 payment terminals. IP opens a myriad of new services to the consumer, extends acceptance to new merchants and delivers new revenue opportunities.”
