Ability to ‘Future-proof’ POS Hardware Choices and Ease of Install Cited as Main Reasons For Choosing Verifone
Santa Clara, CA - April 07, 2004 - Verifone, Inc., the world's leading provider of payment solutions, today announced that Grand Rapids, Michigan based Meijer, Inc. recently installed Verifone’s Omni 7000MPD payment terminals in over 7500 lanes. Meijer chose to also implement signature capture, a feature the Omni 7000MPD supports.
In interfacing with the POS hardware, the Omni 7000MPD proved its versatility and scalability by replacing first generation PINpads with no changes to the currently running register software. Meijer, which is known throughout the retail industry for providing large selection, low prices and friendly service, has improved the Meijer customer experience with the installation of the Omni 7000MPD in its checkout lanes.
"The entire Omni 7000 family of products and field swap-able modules have been specifically designed to provide a simple and cost effective upgrade path for the over 1 million terminal install base of older generation Verifone multi-lane POS terminals,” said Scott Tubbs, retail director for Verifone. “This allows retailers take advantage of advanced features without re-engineering their entire POS and back-office infrastructure.”
