New Vice President And General Managers To Focus On Emerging Markets Within The Asia Pacific Region
Hong Kong - August 13, 2004 - Verifone Inc., the worldwide leader in electronic payment solutions, today announced a new Asia Pacific executive management team with the promotion of Jimmy Quake to vice president / general manager for Verifone's South Asia region, and the appointment of Tony Leung as vice president / general manager for Verifone's North Asia region.
The new positions will spearhead Verifone's efforts to take advantage of the tremendous growth in the Asia Pacific region. Quake will be overseeing Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Pakistan, Vietnam, India and other developing countries while Leung will be covering China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Japan.
Reporting to Bill Nichols, vice president of emerging markets and international marketing for Verifone, Inc., both Quake and Leung are responsible for successfully building, re-engineering and directing Verifone Asia Pacific sales, operations and marketing organization.
Commenting on today's announcement, Nichols said, "Both Tony and Jimmy are experienced and have an impressive track record in driving revenue growth. We are confident that their addition to the Asia Pacific organization will be extremely valuable to Verifone."

Commenting on his appointment, Leung said, "Acquirers are demanding proven point-of-sale technology to meet the day to day merchant needs. The North Asia region in particular has a great potential market for Verifone in the transportation, healthcare, public utilities, petro, and mobile prepaid top-up sectors. Moreover, the demand for contactless smart cards in the territory is also increasing."
