Omni 3730 and 3730 LE Models Tailored to Merchants Who Traditionally Rely on Used or Inferior Brands

Santa Clara, CA - September 07, 2004 - Verifone, Inc., the world’s leading provider of payment solutions, today announced two new payment terminals that extend the Omni 3700 family to the value-conscious segment of the North American market while still leveraging the strength and dependability of the Verifone brand.

The new Omni 3730 and Omni 3730LE terminals are entry-level models in the Verix-based Omni 3700 family that are optimized for merchant settings that require traditional dial-up communications and fewer applications than the popular Omni 3740 and Omni 3750 models.

Verifone is extending the Verix based Omni 3700 family to answer the needs of the market niche that has traditionally relied on simpler products from Hypercom (NYSE: HYC), Lipman (NASDAQ: LPMA), or the refurbished market of older Verifone solutions, according to Paul Rasori, Verifone’s vice president of North America marketing. “We are taking dead aim at this marketplace and bringing the dependability and reliability of the Omni 3700 family to the ISO community,” Rasori said.

The Omni 3730 and Omni 3730LE both feature the innovative “handover” style of the popular Omni 3750 and efficiently process debit, and credit` transactions. The Omni 3730 will also support a value added application such as gift card, loyalty, check conversion or pre-paid phone activation. Both models include the same backlit display, easy-to-read menu prompts, and intuitive ATM-style interface that have made the higher-end models so successful, as well as the integrated thermal printer and “clam shell” design for drop-in paper loading that virtually eliminates paper jams.

“These latest terminals from Verifone are tailor-made for Merchants’ Choice Card Services,” said Larry Jones, VP of Sales and Marketing, Merchants’ Choice Card Services. “Verifone is providing us with a seamless solution to serve a broader market while saving on support and training costs. We can sell the new Omni 3730 models to value-conscious merchants while at the same time selling the higher-end Omni 3740 and Omni 3750 terminals -- in the same Verifone Verix-based product family -- that provide other merchants with more value-added features, and IP or wireless communications.”

Featuring powerful 32-bit processors, Omni 3700 terminals are compact, yet easy to use, with a large display, large keys and Verifone's familiar ATM-style user interface. The unique "hand-over" design allows the terminal to be passed to a customer for PIN input or other data entry.
