Verifone's Omni 3750 Ethernet Payment Terminals Deliver High Speed, Real Time and Reliable Transactions To Leading Retailer

Malaysia - August 18, 2004 - MALAYSIA, Philippines - August 18, 2004 –Verifone Inc., the worldwide leader in electronic payment solutions, today announced it will supply SM Department Stores with more than 2,000 Omni 3750 payment terminals and 10 NetAccess W1000s, developed by Verifone's International Partner in Malaysia, GHL Systems Berhad (GHL).

SM Department Stores is a large retail chain in the Philippines that commands a 65% retail market share. The payment solution, which involves setting up a ‘failure resilient’ switching gateways for the retail chain, is unique to the industry. The implementation supports more than 30 types of card payment transactions originating from SM Department Stores' malls and department stores in the Philippines to its acquiring banks. There are as many as 8 acquiring banks participating in the project.

Verifone offers an end-to-end payment infrastructure to worldwide resellers, from front-end terminals to back-end routing networks. The combined Verifone/GHL solution offers resellers a competitive edge in international markets, with solutions that are highly versatile and have customized connectivity and applications.

The all-in-one Omni 3750 is Verifone's best-selling payment terminal, featuring a powerful 32-bit processor to meet the security and networking demands of Internet Protocol (IP) communications. It features up to 6MB of memory to support value-added applications. It also supports enhanced communications such as Ethernet, which fuels “always-on” connectivity. The Omni 3750 also securely sends transactions over public or private networks using industry standard SSL encryption.

GHL's NetAccess W1000 is a network transaction controller, accepting high-speed payment transactions from LAN-enabled electronic draft capture terminals and banks. IP/Ethernet-enabled point-of-sale solutions also provide infrastructure cost savings, reducing the need for additional phone lines and other related costs. The NetAccess W1000 also has the option of providing multiple redundant links over dial-up, leased line, mobile GPRS, broadband, etc. to further take advantage of newer and more cost-effective connectivity technologies.
