Cold Stone Creamery Serves Up Verifone Premium Payment Solution

Fastest Growing Ice Cream Franchise Chain Utilizing Omni 3750 for Nationwide Gift Card Program and Electronic Payments August 30, 2005 San Jose, CA

Verifone Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: PAY), announced today that Cold Stone Creamery, the fastest growing ice cream concept in America, is equipping franchisees with the Omni 3750 payment solution to implement a nationwide electronic gift card program. The rollout of the solution is slated to occur over the next three months and also bundles credit and debit card acceptance into a cost effective and upgradeable package that can adapt to Cold Stone Creamery’s aggressive growth plans.

“Electronic gift cards will allow us to utilize electronic payment networks for this popular program and do away with the inefficiency of paper payment certificates,” said Daniel Beem, Director of Store Profitability with Cold Stone Creamery. “The Verifone Omni 3750 with its interchangeable dial and Internet Protocol-based communications options provide us the investment protection we need to better serve our customers over time. The Omni 3750 solution was actually brought to our attention as a one stop solution so we are excited about its functionality.”

To provide the fastest service possible during peak times, many Cold Stone franchisees will utilize multiple Omni 3750 systems to speed patrons through the payment process efficiently.

Working with the Advanced Solutions Group’s Franchise Sales Division of First Data Merchant Services, the merchant payment processing company of First Data Corp. (NYSE: FDC), Cold Stone Creamery is replacing paper-based gift certificates with an enhanced electronic gift card program from ValueLink, another First Data company. First Data Merchant Services processes and settles more than 19.8 billion transactions annually and serves 4.1 million merchant locations.

“Cold Stone Creamery is a rapidly growing national brand and we welcome the opportunity to participate in this conversion to a value-added payment application,” said Paul Rasori, Verifone vice president of marketing. “Many national chains are adopting Verifone’s multi-application product line and working with our value-added partners to increase revenue and profitability at the point of sale.”

Cold Stone Creamery is the fastest growing ice cream concept in the country with more than 1,100 stores operating and another 1,000 stores in various stages of development. The company’s proven formula is a key contributor to a bite out of the $20 billion ice cream industry. In 2004, system-wide sales exceeded $285 million, an 88% increase over 2003.

The modular architecture of the Omni 3750 accommodates dial, broadband and wireless transmission technologies, ensuring "future-proof" solutions that can quickly and easily be upgraded as merchant needs change. The Omni 3750 also features an ATM-style interface, clam-shell printer and large backlit display.
