Verifone Launches New Managed Service for Banks and Acquirers in the UK

APACS 40 Omni 3750 Solution Receives End-to-End MasterCard Certification in Launch Deployment For Lloyds TSB Cardnet January 12, 2005 United Kingdom

Verifone Inc., the leading provider of payment solutions, today marked the launch of its managed service for acquirers and banks in the UK with the announcement that the Omni 3750 solution has been approved by Lloyds TSB Cardnet following end-to-end certification by MasterCard. The Chip and PIN-enabled APACS 40 software was awarded full certification on the first round of testing with Cardnet’s processor, First Data International.

Verifone’s new managed service, which includes leasing, deployment, helpdesk, administration and processing, is being launched to provide a fully managed offering for Verifone’s acquirer and bank customers. Verifone is planning to extend its managed service to other UK acquirers.

Commenting on today’s news, Paul Campbell, vice president product development merchant acquiring, First Data International EMEA, said, “The launch of Verifone’s managed service will be a key part of our ongoing commitment to Lloyds TSB Cardnet and its merchant customers. We aim to provide the highest quality customer experience at all times, and the new Verifone solution provides the perfect complement to our services.”

Nigel Bidmead, EMEA Managing Director for Verifone said, “First Data International has proved itself a valuable partner in delivering our new managed service to Lloyds TSB Cardnet. With this launch, we are proving our commitment to providing complete solutions for our important bank and acquirer customers.”

The Omni 3750 features a powerful 32-bit processor to meet the security and networking demands of Internet Protocol (IP) communications, and the toughest standards for EMV smartcards. It features up to 6MB of memory to support plenty of value-added applications. It supports advanced communications such as Ethernet, built on IP technology, which fuels ‘always-on’ connectivity, and it has the power to securely send transactions over public or private networks using industry standard SSL encryption. The Omni 3750 features a removable communications module that can be upgraded at deployment or in the field. Finally, Triple DES and PED security help stem the tide of fraudulent tactics such as card skimming, and the Omni 3750 supports the entire set of 3DES requirements, including 3DES Master Session and 3DES DUKPT.
