New security requirements from card issuers require updated card terminals in Swedish businesses. Therefore, the gas station chain OKQ8 signed a new contract with payment solution provider Verifone which means that they will replace all POS terminals in all manned as well as unmanned stations in Sweden. About 700 terminals will be placed inside stores and 1400 on forecourts. The new solution is expected to take about 18 months to implement across the country.
A major reason for the change of terminals is that usability will be improved further. The upgraded terminals have a larger display and provide better information to customers, while new device improvements make payment quicker and smoother.
“Today's terminals offer both color display and graphic images. Furthermore, it is faster, which is advantageous for both Q8 and their customers.” says Jonas Rörsgård, GM of Verifone, Sweden.
After careful evaluation of the payment solutions available on the Swedish market, OKQ8 chose to sign a new contract with Verifone due to its ability to comply with the latest security requirements from card issuers.”
“Approximately 80 percent of our sales are made by credit card so it is important for us to increase security for the customers. Fraud such as skimming is a big problem in this industry, so it is a constant race for us to beat the fraudsters,” says Per Hanö, Purchasing Manager at OKQ8.
